Kevin Garnett (KG) going down last year right before the playoffs delivered a huge blow to the foundation of the Boston Celtics team: but the great thing about America is you can put insurance on anything or anyone to help cover the cost for any damages. The Celtics insurance for KG came in the form of a 6’ 11 230 pound forward name Rasheed Walace, who was brought: “just incase.” So far this season he has shown Celtics fans he was worth the 5.6 Million. According to the Celtics official webpage Wallace is 3rd on the team for most rebounds this season; he trails Kevin Garnett (30mpg) and Kendrick Perkins (28mpg) who average more playing time. Wallace is 6th in points per game on the team and 4th when it comes to free throw percentage, I don’t know about you but these numbers are impressive for a guy who averages 21 minutes a game and hasn’t even completed a whole season.
Moving away from Boston’s newest player and moving towards an old face that has finally begun to see how great he can be. Yes ladies and Gentlemen I am referring to the 23 year old point guard, Louisville, Kentucky native Rajon Rondo. This year makes it his third year in the NBA and he is playing like a true vet. During the 2008-2009 season he was criticize for not being a complete point guard because of his inability to score at will. It seems to me as if he took the criticism very personal and he entered the 2009-2010 season with a chip on his shoulder, and he wanted to put all the negative talk to rest. Rondo is now having a phenomenal season averaging 14 points, 10 assists and 3 rebounds per game which is a big improvement from last year when he averaged 11points 8 assist and 5 rebounds per game. This young man is playing outstanding basketball and for everyone who was not a Rondo fan before, I bet you are now.
While surfing the net this morning i happened run across a video that i found very funny about how people would react if there was no gas at the gas station so click on the title and it will direct you to the clip. Enjoy!!
**this clip will have you literally laughing out loud**
Have you ever seen or felt the effect of 3d? if you havn't the whole experience will have you feeling like a kid again. This past weekend i had the opportunity to watch Avatar, and blown away wasn't even the phrase to describe how good the movie was, as i sat there in the dome shape room trying to reach for things i knew wasnt in the room all i could think was dam, i need to to see this movie again. no doubt in my mind this movie is a must see and it has the official SILENTKAY approval.
This it ladies and Gents, Meaning this is my year. I have been blessed to see twenty, who would ever guess that the skinny little peanut head kid who migrated to America 19 years ago would be standing tall and can honestly say at 20 i have accomplished a lot. For my readers who are sitting home saying " please K.C what have you done?" I respond by saying the list can go on for ever but I'm not a cocky guy to really sit here and list them. In 2009 I shared great Memories with my friends, family, and love ones; I feel like I am who I am today because of them. So to all my friends thanks for being there, to all that are reading this post thank you also.
In 2009 I learned a lot, I was rudely awaken to the Worlds corruption. Its funny how we as humans ignore problems that is stretched out right in front of our faces, and the only time we turn or attention to them is when the affect us directly. But moving away from the wrong of the world i want to turn my attention towards new beginnings. GOD has blessed me in so many ways and it took me 19 years before I gathered enough courage to accept him into my life for ever, So this year I have no new years resolution because I don't need the ending of a year to realize I need to change, but the next 364 days I'm all about progress and achieving goal, so when 2011 comes around ill look back and say I did it, matter of fact we did it, because my progress is your progress because I don't only represent myself when I represent, my family, Africans, My friends, and most important the man above. So happy New years!! set goals and achieve them.
Christmas is right around the corner and I know everyone is doing ther last minute shopping but, finals are over so come out and party with The Live from the Dorm Room cast. this party is going to be good and it has the official Silentkay Approval. Thanksgiving, the one day where society puts emphasis on citizens vocalizing what they are thankful for, which I so proudly take part in with no question. I’m proud to share with the world that I am thankful for being a male. A thoughtful thought that I’m pretty sure I share with plenty of other males but few are capable of admitting it or are afraid. At the end of Thanksgiving in my house I had witness how the role and duties performed by my family members were heavily influenced by their gender.
Let me first express how I love my family and we are not perfect but we enjoy one and another company. In my family the women outnumber the males by far, so when it comes to food preparation it is strictly done by them, although the men in my family (excluding me) are fully are capable of cooking. The only time we (males) are asked to help out in the kitchen was when they needed something from the store, or when we (men) was told to intervene on an argument that erupted in the kitchen. From what I observed the women conversation revolved around topics such as: our native land (mother Africa), family functions and my mothers upcoming trip back to Africa for the winter.
While the women are cooking the guys were participating in easier activities that don’t involve much movement or thinking, for example, sleeping (like myself) or watching movies. The interesting thing about the movies that the guys were watching was the fact that they were all action packed, and violence which I found funny because if the women were watching television they would most likely be watching African films. This situation reminded me of the discussion we had in class that pin pointed men’s inability to show a soft side as a result of possible misinterpretation. Not to say that the men in my family are not educated or lack a intellectual side because that is not the case, but on thanks giving our conversation blanket sports primarily, followed by drinking, then movies and ended with remembering old events. I also observed something else, when the guys were talking it always seemed like each guy was always trying to out due the guy before him, which made things funnier to me and my little nieces.
Although we should be thankful for the things we have and the people we are blessed to have in our lives every day, we don’t, instead we take for granted the simple things. But when these things are taken from us, we would be lost or at a lost. So to the males out there be thankful for being a male and be thankful to the females because without them you wouldn’t be here. The amount of work and pressure that we exert on them daily is enormous while we kick our feet back and do our little part. I now understand why so many men go through life without caring about matters that revolve around women, it’s because when you’re blessed with the privileged sex there is no reason for you to worry, you already got it made. I’m not saying get a sex change nor am I saying it’s your fault, what I am saying is be mindful, appreciate and give thanks for being a male because I am.
So the question that presents it-self right now is “who am I” I find this question funny because I have been asked this question thousands of time before but I never fully answer it. It’s honestly hard for me to tell you who I am, without telling you what I am. So instead of me writing a traditional paragraph about me, I decided to do it a little different with just short statements that will help you get to know me K.C.
I am African, but not American
I am Liberian but light skinned
I am rich in heart although I lack the actual funds
I am highly intelligent and sometimes slow
I think about the big picture but in a smaller frame
I’m not only a student @ URI I’m also a student of life
I talk a lot but think a lot more
I don’t read for fun, I read to be informed
I’m your average Joe even though I’m not the typical John
I know a lot of people but they don’t know me
I like to have fun but too much fun can leave you broke
I’ve loved, been loved then loved again
I’ve hurt, been hurt, then did more hurting
Very simple but complicated at times
I work hard so I don’t have to struggle later
Family man that likes my space
This is my Blog page but I made it for you so enjoy!!
